Of the nearly 18 miles of single-track that make up the Anglers Ridge Trail
System, over 15 miles of trail traverses the property known as "CyberPark".
This technology-based industrial park is a joint vision and partnership between
the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County. Both governments have
millions of dollars invested in CyberPark and hope to attract world-leading
technology and manufacturing to Southside Virginia.
SVMBA was consulted from the beginning and it was agreed that a vibrant trail
system could serve well in attracting new forward-thinking technology-based
companies. An agreement between former SVMBA president Chris Tompkins and
CyberPark Authority members put into motion a grass-roots effort that has
exceeded every expectation that anyone may have had nearly 6 years ago.
Now CyberPark takes a big step forward into the 21st Century as Southside
welcomes it's newest corporate neighbor. The Advanced Vehicle Research
Center (AVRC - www.AVRC.com) will continue
it's mission to develop new technologies that will reduce our dependence on
foreign oil by developing alternative-fuel vehicles that will utilize ethanol
and electric plug-in technologies to power automobiles in the future.
