March 2008

2008.03.24 - It's official . . . Danville's Southern Classic Series race will be "The Shootout".

Thanks to the 18 people who cast their vote, it was close race throughout the weekend.

Here's the breakdown of the votes . . .

5 - The Shootout
3 - Assault
2 - Amped
2 - Rumble
2 - Scream
2 - Sufferfest
1 - Rage
1 - Big Ring Classic

18 - Total Votes

The free UnderArmour t-shirt goes to Jason Byrd.  It was his nominations of  "Big Ring Classic" and "Big Ring Shootout" that motivated me to use it as an example in the e-mail listing the nominations.

By the way . . . If anyone is artistically inclined, we sure could use a cool logo ! ! !

Thanks everyone,

Chris Tompkins
SVMBA - Race Director

2008.03.17 - I wanted to take this opportunity to remind all SVMBA club members and potential club members of our April 5th 'Fat Tire Social' at the Pepsi Building next to the Danville Crossing. We have reserved the building from 5p.m until 9p.m. We are getting very excited about the social and hope you all can make it. Food and beverages will be served!!

Remember, if you know of someone who may be interested in joining SVMBA or just interested in mountain biking in general feel free to bring them along.

On a different note, this year's races are looking like they will be the best so far! If you are planning on attending the races but are NOT planning on racing maybe you would consider being a marshall. We need more marshalls than ever with the layout of the racecourse. If you think you may be interested please email us or let us know at the social that you may be able to help out.

   Thank you-

2008.03.03 - I just wanted to send out an invitation for an overnighter and two day ride at Dark Mountain trails right there in North Wilkesboro. Chris Blevins and I rode these trails some time back and have been dying to get back out there. We will be leaving at 10:30 on Saturday, March 15th and making a few stops in Gboro and Winston on the way. We will be staying in Moravian Falls Campground just south of town (6 miles from the trailhead) and riding Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. I have already reserved one campsite and 2 other people are joining me so far. If anyone is interested in this overnight (2day) ride the number at the campground is (336) 662-6150. If anyone wants more info on the trip just reply to this message or call me at 822-0365.

    Thanks,

     Scott Buckner  -president SVMBA-
